We start 2024 by taking a forced leap into the void. Behind us was a 2023 full of achievements, and while we drank a hot chocolate in the equatorial tropics, we discovered that nothing would be the same.
Adversity does not bring us down
Previously, we harvested amid pandemics or earthquakes, challenges which forged our character. Year after year, we improved the level of our chocolate and strengthened our team, and proudly, in the last two years, we have raised the flag of Ecuador on the west coast of the U.S.
Losing the fear of recent events is another challenge to overcome. Preparing our first batch of chocolate with our 12th medal awarded by the Academy of Chocolate of London fills our hearts with strength and courage. “Fear feeds on fear,” wrote the American artist Jenny Holzner, and in this beautiful and multicultural country of brave women and men, adversity does not bring us down.
We anxiously wait for an abundant cacao harvest and better days for Ecuador. Strength and courage in setbacks are essential because “what stands in the way becomes a way”, as Marcus Aurelius wrote.

Así empezamos 2024 dando un salto al vacío obligado. Atrás quedó un 2023 lleno de conquistas y mientras nos bebíamos un chocolate caliente en el trópico ecuatorial nos enterábamos que ya nada iba a ser igual.
Si en los años previos salimos a cosechar con pandemias y terremotos, hoy nos damos cuenta que esas situaciones fueron retos que forjaron nuestro carácter. Año tras año elevamos el nivel de nuestro chocolate, fortaleciendo nuestro equipo y poniendo con orgullo el nombre de Ecuador en diversos lugares del mundo, incluida la costa oeste de los Estados Unidos.
Perder el miedo a las vicisitudes recientes es otro desafío más a vencer. Mientras preparamos nuestro primer lote chocolate de 2024 con nuestra medalla número 12 obtenida en la Academia de Chocolate de Londres, llenamos nuestro corazón de fuerza y coraje. “El miedo se alimenta del miedo,” escribió la artista americana Jenny Holzner, y a este país hermoso y multicultural, de mujeres y hombres valientes, las adversidades no lo abaten.
Esperamos una abundante cosecha y mejores días para Ecuador y su gente. Fuerza y valentía para enfrentar los tiempos difíciles porque como escribió Marco Aurelio, “los obstaculos que se presentan pueden convertirse en el camino.”
