Phenomenal Women

"I am a woman

Phenomenally

Phenomenal woman

That's me."
Maya Angelou

The fantastic 2022 cacao harvest is still marked in our memory, with an excellent female involvement from start to finish.

María Laura Andrade, architect and muse. Picture by Paulina Roca.

We give prominence to Beatriz Pazmiño, a key piece of the harvest that, smiling, shelled the cacao pods with her delicate hands, selected by her husband and her nephews. She has become a fundamental link in our team.

The collaboration with Anna Schironi, CEO of Kaacao, a friend and a top professional who leads a speciality cacao group in the Upper Manabí, Ecuador has been a superb experience. Anna slow-fermented our selected Nacional cacao beans to craft our 2022 chocolate batch.

In an environment that is mostly dominated by men, surrounded by wooden crates, clotheslines, moisture meters, she manoeuvres with passion, a great sense of smell and taste the transformation of our speciality cacao. And yes, we trust her fully and the result of this cacao promises great expectations.

The young photographer, Paulina Roca, has been capturing our images for the last months. When we shared with her the idea of collaborating with María Laura Andrade and Cárdenas Chocolate, her answer was a definitive yes.

María Laura is a young and talented architect and our muse in this campaign for Women's Day and Month.

Why her, why them? Because they represent the new generation of sensitive women, permeable to changes who start their lives full of challenges, without drawing smiles on their faces and determination of achieving their dreams. They trust in what we do, and we believe in them, they refresh our ideas, and we both create a beautiful symbiosis of energies.

We only mention a handful of phenomenal women who collaborate with Cárdenas Chocolate. Because as Ursula von der Leyen said, "unity is our best strength".

Happy International Women's Day!
